Function of Major Hotel Departments:
Front Office
is the most visible department in a hotel. Guests come to the front desk register; to receive room assignments; to inquire about available services, facilities, and the city or surrounding area; and to check out. Other front office functions include receiving and distributing mail, messages and facsimiles, as well as guest cashiering.
Food and Beverage Department
includes Kitchens, Stewarding, Restaurants, Beverage (Bars), Room Service and Functions/Banquets.
Many hotels have numerous food and beverage outlets, ranging from coffee shops to fine dining restaurants
Sales and Marketing Department
includes Sales, convention services, advertising, and public relations. The primary goal is to promote the sale of hotel products and services.
Housekeeping Department
is responsible for the general cleaning of guest rooms and public area. Cleaning and pressing the property’s liners, towels, uniforms and guest clothing is also included in their duty.
Finance Department
includes accounting, purchasing, EPD, food and beverage costs control. It is a serve department in that it provides financial information to users in a concise and understandable form. |
